City council is deferring the creation of a dog-friendly beach until next year.
Sarnia was planning to set up a one-year pilot project with a designated space for canines to dog-paddle with their owners this year, but the public consultation process with disrupted by COVID-19.
Staff said the delay would give bathers and other beach-users as much space as possible to practice social distancing.
What’s more, the beach area normally available has shrunk under high water levels, staff noted.
The proposal, with a recommendation for a location, is now expected in April of 2021.
