The residents of Point Edward, including businesses and other organizations, are being asked to provide their feedback regarding proposed changes to Sarnia Transit service and garbage collection in the village.
In March 2023, Sarnia Transit’s service moved to a schedule where buses come every 40 minutes, as opposed to every 30 minutes. Point Edward, however, remained on an hourly schedule that no longer aligns with the frequency of buses in Sarnia. For riders, this has meant fewer connections and longer wait times at Northgate Terminal.
The proposed schedule change would move the frequency of buses in Point Edward from every hour to every 80 minutes. This change will reduce the total number of trips throughout the day, but it will provide commuters from Point Edward a direct route to the hospital, the downtown core, and connections with other routes.
The Village of Point Edward is also proposing to reduce the limit on the number of garbage bags that can be put out for disposal on collection day from four bags to three. This change will minimize the amount of waste going to landfill as well as associated costs for taxpayers.
Until December 9, 2024, residents can have their say by participating in online surveys that can be found at the following links:
