A 22-year-old from Scarborough faces a slew of charges after a traffic stop in Corunna led to the seizure of a loaded gun and suspected fentanyl, cocaine, and hydromorphone, police say.
Lambton OPP say the incident occurred Wednesday when members of the Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) arrested an individual during a traffic stop on Cameron Street, following a drug trafficking investigation.
“The individual was currently on conditions from a previous drug trafficking charge,” a news release noted. “A search, incident to arrest, yielded a loaded prohibited firearm, suspected fentanyl, cocaine, and hydromorphone.”
The individual faces the following charges, and has been held in custody following a bail hearing on August 31:
- Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking (two counts)
- Possession of a schedule 1 substance
- Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition
- Careless storage of a firearm (three counts)
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Unauthorized possession of a weapon
- Knowledge of Unauthorized possession of a weapon
- Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited weapon and
- Failure to comply with release order.
