A 27-year-old man is in hospital after he was stabbed in the chest with a sword during a late-night dispute, police say.
The incident occurred just before 1 a.m. Saturday, when officers responded to a disturbance within a residence in the 900 block of Murphy Road.
“Two adult male roommates were involved in a heated dispute, which resulted in a physical altercation where one of the males stabbed the other male in the chest with a sword,” a news release stated. “Sarnia Police officers attended the location and quickly arrested the suspect.”
The suspect, a 29-year-old male, faces charges of aggravated assault and assault with a weapon, and is being held in custody pending a bail hearing on Tuesday.
The victim sustained a stab wound to the chest, “narrowly missing vital organs,” police said. He was taken to Bluewater Health where he remains in the Intensive Care Unit in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.
