A large crowd gathered outside The Book Keeper in Sarnia Saturday morning to take part in a ‘love rally’ to show their support for Drag Queen Story Time.
“Today was absolutely incredible,” Book Keeper owner Susan Chamberlain said of the event that drew some 150 people of all ages – many with signs and flags in support of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community – to the city’s Northgate Plaza beginning at 9:30 a.m.
“Sarnia-Lambton showed up and showed their love… It was so beautiful.”
Supporters in attendace included city councillors Adam Kilner, Chrissy McRoberts, Brian White, Anne Marie Gillis, and George Vandenberg.The rally was held ahead of Drag Queen Story Time with Amanda Villa, in response to protesters showing up at previous events.
Chamberlain said about four local protesters were on hand, Saturday.
“We were prepared for the worst,” she said. “But we experienced the best.”
