Driver knocks out traffic light, charged with impaired

A 31-year-old Sarnia man is facing impaired driving charges after a vehicle struck a pole at a north end intersection, sending one person to hospital, police say.

In a Twitter post, Saturday, the Sarnia Police Service noted the man faces impaired operation charges for the second time, and a passenger was transported to hospital with minor injuries following the collision at the intersection of Colborne Road and Michigan Ave.

“Driver's breath tests results were more than four times the legal limit,” read the post, accompanied by a photo o the damaged traffic light.

The intersection was closed or several hours to repair the downed pole.
