The City of Sarnia is seeking community feedback as it prepares a master plan to revitalize Norm Perry Park.

“There are numerous user groups, through a variety of sports who utilize this historic park and its facilities, and we want to ensure that we have a space that continues to serves needs well into the future,” said Krissy Glavin, manager, parks and recreation. “We’re looking to user groups, and the community as a whole to tell us what those needs are.”

The 9.2-acre athletic park requires reinvestment as many of its amenities are near or past their end of life, the City stated in a news release.

“While the City is currently undertaking critical investments into the facility, such as bleacher replacement, the development of a master plan will help ensure that future investments address the most crucial needs while creating a roadmap for further improvements to facilitate diverse athletic needs.”

Outcomes from the master plan, once developed, will help inform the City’s annual budget deliberations, while at the same time, ensuring investments are well defined to capitalize on future grant and funding opportunities, officials added.

An online, community-wide survey has been launched inviting residents to share their experiences and insights with the park and potential future improvements.

The survey comes ahead of direct engagement with identified stakeholders such as current park user groups.
