Sarnia is launching a project to find and snip bureaucratic red tape to make City Hall more efficient for businesses and citizens alike.

The concept proposed by Coun. Bill Dennis will see key departments conduct self-audits over the next six to nine months to identify ways the overall administrative burden can be reduced.

Ideas and comment will also be sought from the public, individual businesses and local Chamber of Commerce.

Streamlining has occurred already in the planning and building department, but more needs to be done to help developers get projects started, said Coun. Brian White.

“We’ve still got a ways to go to make things easier to expedite the processes, and I think this is an excellent opportunity, he said.
