Child pulled from swimming pool in critical condition

A four-year-old child is in critical condition after being found in a swimming pool at a Sarnia home, Wednesday.

Police say officers responded around 3 p.m. to a call that a four-year-old child was missing from a residence in the area of Hillcrest Drive and Rutherglen Drive.

“Officers arrived on scene and requested Sarnia Fire and Rescue Services to assist with the search,” a news release stated, Thursday. “The child was located with vital signs absent in a swimming pool on the property.

“As part of the Emergency transport, several intersections along Indian Road were closed temporarily to facilitate the ambulance's safe and expedient transport,” police added.

"The child has since been transferred to the Pediatric Critical Care Unit where he remains in critical condition."

Uniform patrol, identification unit and criminal investigations conducted an investigation and there are no criminal charges pending, police stated.

No further details will be released to protect the privacy of the family.
