Nearly $300,000 worth of new playground and "challenge course" equipment is being installed at Harry Turnbull Park near downtown Sarnia.

The installation marks a significant upgrade for the park, which has featured a skateboard park and little else until now.

New slides, swings, sway steps and agility boards are going in immediately west of the skateboard park and should be fully ready by the end of next week.

The city has received a $100,000 Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program grant to defray costs and hired Park N Play out of Alberta to provide the equipment and install it.

Harry Turnbull Park is one of the city's oldest parks and is bordered by Maxwell, Elgin and Napier streets.
