As Trevor Taylor approaches his 40th birthday on August 16th, he’s planning something extraordinary. This "almost" 40-year-old married father of two daughters, born and raised in Sarnia, is choosing to mark this milestone not by receiving gifts but by giving them. Taylor's life is a testament to the power of human connections, and his birthday celebration is set to exemplify that value in a profoundly impactful way.

Trevor Taylor has dedicated many years to the non-profit sector, understanding deeply the importance of community and compassion. He currently works as the Communications Manager for Habitat for Humanity and serves on the Board of Directors for the Alzheimer’s Society of Sarnia-Lambton. Despite these significant commitments, Taylor also finds time to coach SMAA Girls Fastball U13 and runs his own business, Zurora Designs Studio, a creative venture that reflects his multifaceted talents and passions.

The Genesis of 40 Acts of Kindness

As Taylor approached his 40th birthday, he pondered how to make the day meaningful beyond personal celebration. His answer was simple yet profound: give back to the community that has given him so much. Thus, the idea for "40 Acts of Kindness Sarnia" was born. Instead of receiving birthday gifts, Taylor plans to perform 40 acts of kindness, spreading joy and making people’s days a little brighter.

A Call to the Community

To make this vision a reality, Taylor is calling on the support of local businesses and the people of Sarnia. He hopes that 40 local entities and people will step up and donate $25 each in the form of gift cards, products, or services that he can distribute on his birthday. Each donation will come with the donor’s business card, should they wish to be acknowledged, fostering a spirit of community collaboration.

But the initiative isn’t just about donations. Taylor is also seeking nominations for individuals who could use a little extra love or a kind gesture. “I’m looking for stories of people who might be struggling, who could benefit from a surprise act of kindness,” Taylor says.

The Impact of Kindness

Research consistently shows that acts of kindness have ripple effects, enhancing the well-being of both the giver and the receiver. Taylor's initiative is poised to do just that, creating a wave of positivity across Sarnia. By involving local businesses and individuals, "40 Acts of Kindness Sarnia" not only uplifts recipients but also fosters a stronger, more connected community.

As we sit down to talk, it’s easy to see why Taylor is so passionate about this project. His generous laughter fills the room, and his smile is constant, radiating warmth and genuine care for others.

A Life Dedicated to Service

Taylor's dedication to service is evident in every aspect of his life. His role at Habitat for Humanity involves communicating the organization's mission and mobilizing the community to support affordable housing initiatives. His position on the Alzheimer’s Society board sees him advocating for individuals and families affected by dementia, striving to enhance their quality of life.

Coaching the SMAA Girls Fastball U13 team is another significant commitment. Through coaching, Taylor imparts values of teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship to young athletes, shaping not just their skills on the field but also their character off it.

Zurora Designs Studio, Taylor’s personal business venture, adds yet another dimension to his busy life. The studio is a creative outlet where he designs unique, customized products. This entrepreneurial endeavor allows Taylor to express his creativity and connect with clients on a personal level, further expanding his network of positive relationships.
