Petrolia-based Black Gold Brewery has partnered with the United Way of Sarnia-Lambton for a summer beer promotion to help raise funds for the agency.
The brewery’s Liquid Gold Cream Ale has been rebranded as the “United Way Beer” and can be purchased at their Petrolia location, or pre-ordered from the United Way website at www.theunitedway.on.ca to be picked up on various dates from the Lambton Mall Road office.
Black Gold Brewery says it will donate a minimum of 50 cents from each 473 ML can sold and 50 cents from each glass purchased on tap to the United Way.
"My wife and I, and all the partners, have supported the United Way at our workplace for years through the typical United Way payroll deduction campaign, so when [they] approached us to do a promotion, our ideas just started to flow,” said Bernie Brocklehurst. “We want to raise as much money as possible for the United Way and raise awareness of the nearly 30 local programs and services they fund in Sarnia and Lambton County.”
According to the Black Gold website, the Liquid Gold Cream Ale is their flagship cream ale and is a light-bodied and refreshing intro to craft beer.
Sweet cereal and honey from the malt leads into floral and lemon notes from crystal hops — a nice light beer with a hint of citrus, "an ideal summertime drink," said United Way executive director Dave Brown.
"We are delighted the Black Gold Brewery has partnered with us this way. In addition to raising money, this partnership provides the United Way with some much-needed publicity and awareness leading into our September fall campaign,” he added.
“The United Way of Sarnia-Lambton is all about local. We fund local programs and services and work with local businesses to support each other. This partnership is just another example of us working together for a better community.”
Cans and draft are now available at several local restaurants and bars throughout Sarnia and Lambton County, John's Restaurant, and Los Puntos Cantina in Point Edward. More will be added weekly.
