The Sarnia Sting community fund, Sting Assists, recently announced the recipients of 32 grants and eight scholarships — totalling $165,000.

“Sting Assists is built on best practices in sport and community philanthropy, with a made in Sarnia-Lambton approach,” a news release noted. “The purpose of the community fund is to promote and support local amateur sports, youth programs, and advance education through the provision of community scholarships, growing a presence through support and outreach.”

Funds are raised through 50/50 sales both online and in-person during Sarnia Sting home games. The funds raised are used to assist organizations in Sarnia-Lambton as determined by a board of directors and a committee.
