Local Kiwanis clubs have teamed up with Staples of Sarnia to provide school supplies for students in need at a number of Lambton County schools.

On Labour Day weekend, volunteers from the Forest Kiwanis Club, Kiwanis Club of the Seaway, Kiwanis Club of Sarnia-Lambton Golden K, and Kiwanis Club of Petrolia hosted a barbecue outside of Staples to raise funds for the effort.

Staples also raised money from customers in the store. As a result, nearly $10,000 was collected to provide the supplies, which were prepared and boxed up for each school by Staples.

Recently, volunteers from the four Kiwanis clubs picked up the supplies at Staples and delivered them to 16 schools, plus the Boys and Girls Club of Sarnia-Lambton.

The project was co-ordinated by Golden K member Sheila Donald in co-operation with Staples.
