Wake up folks

With the loss of Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matt Gaudreau at the hands of a suspected drunken driver have shaken up so many people in the hockey circles and beyond.

With the loss of Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matt Gaudreau at the hands of a suspected drunken driver have shaken up so many people in the hockey circles and beyond. Both brothers at a very young age, 31 and 29, both husbands and fathers, the loss is absolutely devastating to the families involved and the hockey world.

Both brothers were to stand next to their sister at her wedding the very next day. Both too young in their lives to be taken away by senseless deaths.

Both, dedicated fathers, husbands, brothers, sons. Their loss compounded by the fact that their deaths were again preventable. Preventable only, if as a society, we can wake up and disown drinking and driving.

Driving is a privilege and allows us to complete  so many things/tasks in a very short time by transporting us from one location to another, from one destination to another and so on. But as a society, we have taken driving too easy.

We have adapted driving to be able to do anything, like having few drinks and still get behind the wheel to transport ourselves from one place to another. It may look like nothing. But the cost to the society is just too high.

Think about all the people affected by this tragedy. Think about how much these brothers would have contributed to their families, their communities and the society at large. Yet, we as people, can not do something so simple, so easy, so sensible and that is, not drink and drive?

Come on people, take some responsibility. Take some action when you see someone getting behind the wheel after drinking. Parents, teachers, community members, please do something to teach young and adult about the pleasure of safe and privileged driving.

Teach about the grave consequences of drinking and driving. Wake up people and save these senseless sufferings on the hands of drinking and drinking. Again, take some responsibility as a society; don’t just leave it to the governments and police to handle drinking and driving. Simply, please don’t drink and drive.

Spread this message throughout the communities.
