Theatre Sarnia is thrilled to announce its upcoming production of Stephen King’s Misery, a spine-chilling stage adaptation of the famous thriller. With an extraordinary cast and crew, this production promises to bring King’s gripping tale to life like never before.
Misery follows successful romance novelist Paul Sheldon, played by Jeff Winter, who finds himself trapped in the secluded home of his “number one fan,” Annie Wilkes, played by Dallas Michaluk, after a car accident. Annie’s obsession takes a dark turn when she discovers Paul has killed off her favorite character, Misery Chastain. What begins as a convalescence quickly spirals into a harrowing struggle for survival, as Annie demands a new Misery novel — with Paul’s life hanging in the balance. Norm Francoeur plays Sheriff Buster, adding a layer of tension to the story.
Performance Dates & Times: January 29–February 2, 2025, with evening performances at 7:30 p.m. and a matinee on February 2 at 2:00 p.m. (No performances on Mondays or Tuesdays)
Executive Director Brian Austin Jr. expressed his excitement about this unique production: “A thriller on stage is something we haven’t tackled in quite some time, and Misery is the perfect choice to bring that edge-of-your-seat suspense to our audience. I’m blown away by the incredible work of our construction and set decor team, and Kelly Barrington’s attention to detail with props is unmatched. I can’t wait to see Stephen King’s masterpiece come to life on our stage.”
Director Ian Alexander’s vision for the production will immerse audiences in the psychological tension and claustrophobia that define King’s story.
“Our goal has been to fright and delight you to the degree that any at-home streaming or cinema experience could, but in an exciting and immersive space. Heart pounding live performances, a 360° atmospheric creepshow and a wild puzzle box set shapeshifting before your eyes.” Says Alexander.
