The Sarnia-Lambton Local Immigration Partnership (SL-LIP) officially launched the Welcome to Lambton app recently.

Created by the SL-LIP, in collaboration with TMRRW Inc. and funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, the app is a user-friendly, personalized guide to support newcomers to Lambton County, including an integrated translation component available in eight languages.

“Lambton County has a long history of welcoming newcomers from all walks of life, and we are proud to have a welcoming, supportive community here,” said Lambton County Warden Kevin Marriott. “To make sure all newcomers to Lambton County feel valued and supported, we need to ensure they have access to the resources and tools they need to settle and participate within our community.

“The Welcome to Lambton app will help us accomplish that.”

The app connects users with community programs and settlement services, provides personalized pre-arrival and post-arrival checklists, and provides help on things like finding a home, searching for a job, finding childcare and healthcare.

It also serves as a tool for service providers, sponsors, or anyone supporting newcomers to the community, the SL-LIP noted, adding that all personal information collected in the app is confidential and used to create a personalized profile for app users.

“Certain anonymous information - like demographic and service access information - will be collected to help ensure the emerging needs of our local newcomer population are met and will help inform future decisions surrounding local service and program delivery,” the group added.

The Welcome to Lambton app is available for download on mobile devices through the App Store and Google Play Store today.
