An active outbreak of COVID-19 declared this week at a Sarnia-Lambton workplace involves four cases, Lambton Public Health says, correcting its original report.
"The workplace outbreak was originally reported as five cases on August 10," the health unit's website states. "After further investigation it was determined that one case was not part of the outbreak but is reflected in the overall total number of cases."
While officials wouldn't provide further information to The Journal Tuesday, the website also notes that workplaces will only be named if "public notification will help to identify additional close contacts that cannot be determined through contact tracing."
Workplace outbreaks are declared when two or more employees test positive for COVID-19 within a reasonable timeline to suspect transmission in the workplace, the health unit states.
"In this situation, Public Health will isolate cases, test and isolate those who have been exposed, and implement changes to reduce risk of transmission."
No new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the latest daily update (327), and three more recoveries (293) bring the active cases to nine.
Cases are considered resolved when they are 14 days past symptom onset date, do not have a fever and COVID symptoms are improving or absent, according to the health unit.
Lambton Public Health follows up daily with cases and contacts throughout their 14-day isolation period.
Locally, a total of 19,516 tests results have been processed since the pandemic began, and 25 people have died.
Bluewater Health currently has no COVID-19 patients, and no one has been treated at the hospital or tested positive for the virus there since mid-June. As of Tuesday, 24 patients were in hospital with tests pending for COVID-19 (includes pre-surgical screening).
Petrolia Town Council passed a mandatory mask bylaw for all indoor public spaces Monday night, along with neighbouring Chatham-Kent.
Ontario recorded 95 new cases Wednesday.
Public health safety measures include staying home when sick, practicing physical distancing with others outside your social circle, use good hand hygiene, and wearing a mask if required or if physical distancing is not possible.
