A campaign to save Sarnia’s only therapeutic swimming pool is a success.
An Ontario Trillium grant of $149,000 earlier this month helped Pathways Health Centre for Children hit its fundraising target of $1.6 million.
The pool at 1240 Murphy Rd. has accessible ramps, water wheelchairs and other special features, but developed a devastating leak in 2018.
More than 800 children and young adults with disabilities use the pool each year, as well as 10,000 community members through senior, toddler and other swim programs.
“We are working hard to safely find a way forward with COVID-19 precautions to open the pool to the community in early 2021,” said Pathways executive director Alison Morrison.
