The City of Sarnia is inviting residents to celebrate the Earth Day weekend by participating in the annual Community Clean-Up Day, April 20.

Participants can sign up as individuals or as a group and select a location to clean up litter. They also have the option to obtain clean-up kits featuring bags, gloves, and other supplies donated by NOVA Chemicals.

“It’s a great opportunity to get out and celebrate Earth Day by reducing litter in the environment while helping keep your favourite park, path, or outdoor space beautiful,” said Parks and Recreation Manager Krissy Glavin.

The clean-up will run from 10 a.m. to noon on April 20, the Saturday before Earth Day, although participants are welcome to collect litter anytime in the week leading up to the event.

All registered participants are invited to a barbecue hosted by the Rotary Club of Sarnia-Lambton After-Hours at Germain Park following the clean-up.

Clean-up kits are available as supplies last. Participants who request clean- up kits will be able to collect them at the Strangway Centre from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, April 19.

For more information, including the opportunity to register online, visit www.sarnia.ca/CleanUp. Registration closes April 12 at noon.
