Add the beach, sports fields and Sarnia’s two off-leash dog parks to the list of closed facilities.

The Ontario government issued the new and additional emergency orders Monday in the effort to continue separating people and slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Closed immediately are all public and private shared outdoor recreational facilities in Ontario.

The list includes playgrounds, which had already been closed by the City of Sarnia, sports fields, basketball and tennis courts, off-leash dog parks, beaches, skateboard and BMX parks, outdoor community gardens, outdoor exercise equipment and other outdoor recreational amenities.

Green spaces in parks, trails, ravines and conservation areas that aren’t otherwise closed do remain open for walkthrough access, although the government says walkers must stay at least two metres (six feet) apart.

The province also said the original emergency orders first issued on March 17 have been extended and will remain into effect until April 13.
