Another seniors’ residence in Sarnia, Sumac Lodge, has an outbreak of COVID-19, Lambton Public Health says.
A staff member at the 96-bed long-term care home on Blackwell Road tested positive for the virus, making Sumac the third seniors’ facility in Sarnia with a declared outbreak.
At Landmark Village retirement home, a 10th staff member has contracted COVID-19, the health unit also said today.
Thirty residents have been infected and six have died since March 26.
The third ongoing outbreak is at Vision Nursing long-term care home, with three residents and two staff members infected.
Another outbreak at Meadowview Villa in Petrolia, which had one case, was declared over on April 23.
As of this morning, Sarnia-Lambton has had 178 confirmed cases of COVID-19, an increase of eight from Monday.
The number of deaths is 14, unchanged for a ninth straight day.
Health officials have received 1,895 test results, with 9% coming back positive.
The number of test results received has doubled in just over a week.
“We can expect that kind of pace to continue,” Dr. Sudit Ranade, Lambton’s Medical Officer of Health, said Monday.
