Chantel is a survivor, having overcome human trafficking and sexual violence. Rather than allowing these experiences to define her, she has transformed them into a catalyst for change. With a deep-rooted passion for combating gender-based violence, she advocates daily to raise awareness and drive societal change through her work as Executive Director at the Sexual Assault Survivors’ Centre Sarnia-Lambton.
In addition to her advocacy work, Chantel is a devoted mother and wife, finding strength and motivation in her family. Committed to creating a safer world for future generations, she channels her determination into making a meaningful impact.
Outside of her activism, Chantel finds comfort in literature and music, using these methods for personal reflection and healing. As a lived-experience leader, she leverages her own journey to inspire and guide others. Through her consulting business, Authentic Insight Consulting, she shares her unique perspective and educates others on topics like lived-experience leadership, living authentically, embracing imposter syndrome, intimacy, and relationships.
Chantel has broken free from what others expect of her, embracing her individuality while empowering others to do the same. Her journey exemplifies resilience, strength, and an unwavering commitment to effecting positive change.

About the Famous 5 Speaker Series Sarnia Lambton
In 1929, a group of five courageous Canadian women stepped forward to challenge laws and conventions by insisting that women were indeed “persons.” These five historical women were Emily Murphy, Nellie McClung, Henrietta Muir Edwards, Louise McKinney, and Irene Parlby.
To honor these women and combine tribute with inspiration, the Famous 5 Speaker Series was established in Calgary in 1998, with a satellite speaker series launched in Sarnia Lambton in 2013. Now, the Speaker Series profiles extraordinary women of today, with speakers who talk candidly about the challenges and triumphs in their personal journeys toward success.
