On Friday August 30, 2024, the Sarnia Police were called to a dispute involving two people known to each other. One of the individuals involved was a (suspended) Sarnia Police officer. No other dispute details will be released in order to protect the identity of the victim. As a result of this investigation, A 47 year old officer of Sarnia, was charged with multiple offences.
Investigative Update
Since that initial incident, further investigation was undertaken by the SPS. As a result, the officer was arrested on September 20th and held for bail on the following Criminal Code (CC) charges:
- Uttering Threats
- 12 X Possession of an unauthorized firearm, CC 92(1)
Following his bail hearing, he was released from custody (with conditions), pending his next court date.
At this time, he remains suspended (with pay) pursuant to the provisions of the Community Safety and Policing Act.
