If you’re planning to dine at Hana Japanese Restaurant to tackle their all-you-can-eat sushi, brace yourselves—you're in for a feast. Be ready to gorge. We were determined to get our money’s worth, but let’s just say, our ambitions were a little bigger than our appetites.
We kicked things off with the spider roll, which, frankly, was more like a tarantula in terms of size. No exaggeration here—it was too big for our mouths (and that’s saying something). Despite the logistical challenge, it was still delicious. It was very tasty, if a bit of a struggle to eat gracefully.
Next up was the dragon roll, topped with creamy avocado, and this was hands down the highlight of the meal. The avocado added a perfect balance to the crispy, tender roll, making it one of those "we need another bite now" moments. All the rolls were fresh and presented beautifully.
Then came the tempura. Sweet potato, broccoli, shrimp—you name it, we tried it. Everything was perfectly fried, crispy without being greasy, and paired with a mild tangy sauce that really hit the spot. If you like a good crunch, this one's a must.
Now, here’s the ultimate pro tip: the bacon-wrapped asparagus. Trust us on this. Order 20 of these beauties as soon as you sit down. Seriously. And while you're at it, throw in a bowl of edamame too. You’ll thank us later.
For some culinary adventure, we decided to try the salmon neck. Now, as the uncultured folks we are, we had no idea this was considered a rich delicacy and the most flavourful part of the salmon. A quick Google search at the table enlightened us, but honestly, it was too fishy for our tastes. The visible fish tail didn’t help either, but hey, we gave it a go! We felt as though we had not done the neck justice by simply trying it, so we vowed to learn a little more about a salmon neck and its preparation after the visit.
We also snacked on gyoza throughout, which were light, lovely, and filled with juicy beef. Kick off your meal with these too—they’re a perfect introduction to what’s in store.
By the time we worked through all the rolls, tempura and other small offerings, we realised there was no room left for dessert. We’d eaten ourselves into a glorious food coma, and we wouldn’t have had it any other way.
If you’re heading to Hana, be sure to come hungry, and maybe bring along a second stomach. Everything we tried was wonderful and fresh, with a few surprises thrown in for good measure. But that’s all part of the fun when you’re on an all-you-can-eat sushi adventure!
