Peacefully, surrounded by loving family, on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Bluewater Health, Robert James Young passed away at the age of 89 a week shy of his 90th birthday. Beloved husband of 55 years to the late Isabelle “Bonnie” Young. Loving father of Wendy (Craig) Lawrence, Sharon (Dave) Wells, and Bradley (Sherry Barr) Young. Cherished grandfather of Nicole Lawrence (Andrea), Brianne Childs (Keith), Allison Brown (Mike), Stephen Wells (Brennan), Cameron Wells, Madison Young and Corson Young. Treasured great-grandfather of Colter Childs and Lilianne Childs. Predeceased by his parents William and Irene Young and by his brother Hugh Young. Robert volunteered for many years alongside his wife in various SMAA roles. In his younger days he played various sports and later enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in their sports of choice. Robert was loyal and dedicated to his job, working for over 40 years at Polysar. He was a dedicated family man and was extremely proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation held one hour prior from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Diabetes Canada, the Canadian Red Cross or the charity of your choice (cheques only at the funeral home please).
