Edward Sparks Winsor, lovingly known as Ted, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 2, 2024. Ted was predeceased, in June of his year, by the love of his life and wife Barbara, with whom they shared 70 years of marriage. Loving father of the late Pamela Forster, Ken Winsor, and Keith Winsor (Jackie). Cherished “Pops” of Mellanie Forster Buckley, Chrystal Matthews (Aaron), Kellan Winsor, Tempest Winsor (Will), James Winsor and Emily Baughman (AJ). Great-grand Pops to Gabe, Levi, Quinn and Luke. Ted is also survived by his sister Joyce Collins, sister-in-law Bernice Henderson, brother-in-law Donald Henderson, son-in-law Keith Forster, daughter-in-law Anita Winsor, many nieces and nephews, and their dear friend Doris Dart. Predeceased by his parents Arthur and Elizabeth (Sparks) and siblings Arthur, Hazel, Susanna, James, Rhodes, Olive, and Alma. Ted was born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. After the Winsor family moved to Sarnia, he met his love, Barbara, at an ice rink in London. They married in 1954, raised 3 children and enjoyed many years together travelling as a family to dirt biking races and even moved to the Bahamas for a short time. Ted and Barb enjoyed winters in Florida and summers RVing, playing music with their many friends and Sunday prime ribs family dinners. Ted was a proud and respected member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 530 for 70 years. He joined Barb at Marshall Gowland Manor in 2022 and in Ted fashion, involved himself as a representative of Residence Council, accompanying the music volunteers on his drum, playing euchre and crib, morning coffee socials and of course Friday afternoon pub. We are very grateful for the care, kindness and genuine affection shown to Ted by the loving staff and residents of Marshall Gowan Manor over the past couple of years. A celebration of life for both Ted and Barb will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with family and friends being received on hour prior from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to The Sarnia & District Humane Society (cheques only at the funeral home please).
