Carl Laverne White passed away peacefully, with loved ones by his side, on September 12, 2024, three days before his 88th birthday. Carl is survived by his loving partner of 39 years, Sharon Johnson, whose devotion to him was unwavering. He is also survived by his four children, Larry, Karen, Dan and Janet, his grandchildren, Chad, Dustin, Tyler, Ryan and Dyllon, Joseph, Erin and Jacob, his great grandchildren, Landon, Penelope, Charlie and Winnifred, his brothers, Allen, Richard and David, sisters Margaret and Lynn and his stepchildren, Tim and Karen (Missy), step-grandchildren, Jim, Jenna and Laura and great granddaughter Autumn, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Mary White, brothers Wayne, Ralph, Blaine and Robert (Bob), sisters Barbara, Carolyn and Mary Ellen and his grandson Curtis. Born September 15, 1936 in Inwood, he spent most of his life in and around Sarnia, but he and Sharon moved to Arthur in 1990 and returned to Sarnia in 2010 to be closer to family. Carl was a lover of classic country music and if you walked into his home, if he wasn’t watching the Leafs or the Jays, he was listening to his favourite country artists. After retiring from many years as a truck driver, he enjoyed spending his time fishing or in his woodworking shop, working on various projects for Sharon, his family and select friends. When he returned to Sarnia, he became a member of Dunlop Central United Church, where he enjoyed the friendships he developed with his church community. The family would like to send our sincere thanks to Bluewater Health physicians, Dr. Kathleen Nelligan, Dr. Mark Mousseau, Dr. Nicholas Matlovich and Dr. Orla MacSweeney, the nurses of the rehab unit, surgical unit and palliative care unit, as well as the PSW’s and PT’s who cared for him while he was there. Although our hearts are heavy, they are also filled with of a lifetime of memories we will cherish forever. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Carl’s life will be held at Dunlop Central United Church, 757 Rosedale Ave, Sarnia, on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Sarnia and District Humane Society (cheques only at the funeral home please).
