Donald George Welten 81, of Petrolia, Ontario, passed away on May 9, 2024 at the Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Hospital of Bluewater Health, Continuing Care Unit in Petrolia, ON. The family of Don Welten would like to express their gratitude for the exceptional care that was given to him by all the staff, nurses and doctors who cared for Don during his time there. Thank you to everyone who visited and sent notes and cards while Don was in Continuing Care. You made his days brighter.
Don was a Chief Building Official at Township of Bosanquet and had a successful career working at Lambton Shores. He was known for his expertise in building and renovation, a skill he utilized throughout his life. Don was a dedicated town councilman for the Town of Petrolia and brought his expertise to that roll.
A man of many talents, Don was a renowned renovator and builder who could create anything he set his mind to. He had a great sense of humor and a kind, considerate nature that endeared him to all who knew him.
Don will be deeply missed by his surviving sons, Sam Welten (Vee) and Bill Welten (Judy). His grandchildren, William Daley (Melissa), Bobby Daley (Amanda), Michael Daley (Samantha) and Mitchell Daley (Shelby), Zachary Welten, Caleigh Welten, Greg Welten (TristaLynn), Scott Welten (Anna), Dean Welten (Rebecca) and many beloved great grandchildren. He is now reunited with his beloved wife of 62 years, Mary Welten (2023)and his daughter Mary Anne Welten (2006).
A long-time member of New Life Assembly Church in Petrolia, Don served in many capacities of leadership. He served as a board member, teacher, general maintenance and lent his expertise in property development. It was his delight to serve in any capacity and took joy in it.
A celebration of life for Don will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. from New Life Assembly, 421 Oozloffsky St, Petrolia. Arrangements entrusted to Needham-Jay Funeral Home.
Don's love for life, his passion for renovation, and his warm personality will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
