Peacefully, surrounded by loving family, on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Bluewater Health, Marg “Fern” Wells passed away at the age of 76. Loving mother of Rob Altiman and Dallas Wells. Cherished grandmother of Kelsey Altiman (Ronald “Chumper” Walker), Donovan Joseph, and Pierce Wells. Treasured great-grandmother of Dillon Beam and Logan Walker. Dear sister of Darlene (nee Nahmabin) Williams. Predeceased by her parents Edith (nee Nahmabin) and Marvin Wrightman, and by her siblings Carmen (Jean) Wrightman, Gloria (Preston) Williams, Melva “Oggie” (Woodrow) Nahdee, Twyla Wrightman, Delmer (Norma) Wrightman, brother-in-law Fred Williams (Fritz), and special cousin Joyce “Squeak” Bowan. Survived by several nieces and nephews. Missed by her dear friend Jean Landry (nee Sands). Marg will be remembered by family and friends at both Walpole Island and Aamjiwnaang First Nations and by all those whose lives she touched. Marg was an avid baseball player who played for the Local 663 Ladies Ball Team. She enjoyed playing Bingo, cards, and spending time at the casino. Marg loved food, to travel, music, and attending as many concerts as she could. A sacred fire has been started at 1204 Tashmoo for all those wishing to attend. A funeral service will be held at Maawn Doosh Gumig Community Centre, 1972 Virgil Ave., Sarnia, on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation held two hours prior from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Cremation will follow. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Aamjiwnaang Food Bank (cheques only at the funeral home please).
