Calvin William Weaver, age 90, of Sarnia, Ontario, passed away peacefully at Bluewater Health on April 6, 2024. He was known as Cal to his friends, Calvin to his family, Dad to his daughters and Papa to his grandchildren. He was born January 11, 1934 in Sarnia, the oldest child of the late Elma and Wallace(Wally) Weaver. He married Marilyn (Jones) on July 3, 1954 so this was their 70th year of marriage. He was a loving father to his 3 daughters, the late Calene, Robyn (Jim) McGrattan, Holly (Greg) Prince, and special grandfather to his 5 grandchildren, Jasmine (Mike) Zak, Laticia Bond, Kieran (Madison) Prince, Raven (Dakota) Melin, and Jade McGrattan. Proud great grandfather to Gideon and Valen. Calvin has 4 sisters, Anita Dowswell, Myrna Bennett, Shirley Milner and Linda Weaver who were all dear to him. Cal graduated from the University of Toronto in 1956 as a Chemical Engineer and worked at Dow Chemical until his retirement at age 55. Dad loved to learn, especially when it came to Science. He kept that love throughout his whole life, always interested in the earth, the weather, space and so on. He was especially concerned about the world around him, always keeping up with the news which he watched daily. Dad was a spiritual man. As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, he loved his God, Jehovah and read and studied the Bible faithfully since his baptism at 30 years of age. He loved to help people learn about God and the Bible. That was most important to him. Many of his family and friends hope to see him again on the paradise earth promised by God that Dad firmly believed in. A Memorial service will be held for Calvin at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 550 Murphy Rd., Sarnia on May 18, 2024 at 2:00 pm. Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
