Surrounded by loving family and friends in her final days, Jackie Visser of Sarnia, Ontario, passed away peacefully on October 17th, 2024, at the age of 94. Jackie was the beloved wife of the late George Visser, and is survived by her children Ellen, Andrew (Karen), Fiona (Mark), Leonard (Kelly), and Christy (Evan), grandchildren Nicole (Luke), Celeste (Josh), Matthew (Jennifer), Nathan, Nicholas (Brie), Derek, and Jacoba, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Jackie emigrated from the Netherlands and served for many years in Sarnia as a Registered Nurse at St Joseph’s hospital and later as a volunteer at Vision Nursing Home and the Crisis Helpline. Her spirit of hospitality and conversation was enjoyed by many at her parties and her Thanksgiving table. Her faith was evident. She loved spring blossoms, summer swims, autumn leaves, winter theatre and her friends.
A memorial service will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. with a live stream that will be made available on her memorial page at the time of service. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Doctors Without Borders directly or by cheque only at Smith Funeral Home.
