Peacefully, surrounded by loving family, on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Lambton Meadowview Villa, in Petrolia, David Van Leeuwen passed away at the age of 78.

Beloved husband of Linda for 52 years. Loving father of Neil Van Leeuwen and Lori Van Leeuwen. Dear brother of Ron Van Leeuwen and Jon (Dawn) Van Leeuwen. Predeceased by his parents Casper and Mary Van Leeuwen. He will be greatly missed by his grand dog Charlie.

David immigrated to Canada with his family when he was 6 years old from the Netherlands. The family settled in Timmins, Ontario or specifically South Porcupine. In high school, David was a drummer in a popular rock and roll band, The Fallen Leaves. It was at one of his shows he met his loving wife, Linda. After high school, David and Linda moved to Sudbury where David attended Laurentian University and graduated with honors from Political Science. He then started his career at Cambrian College in Sudbury. The family moved to Sarnia in 1992 where David worked and eventually retired from Lambton College as the registrar. Davids’s pride and joy was his wife Linda and his son and daughter, who he would do absolutely anything for. He will be remembered as kindhearted, caring and friendly man, who would always stop to say hi and chat with everyone. David was a member of the Rotary Club Bluewaterland for many years. A special thank you to the staff at Lambton Meadowview Villa, especially the 3rd floor Robin’s Way South staff, for their love and care of David over the last couple of years.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of David’s life will take place at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. with words of tribute at 6:30 p.m.
