Peacefully, surrounded by loving family, on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Bluewater Health, Erwin Willie Sullivan passed away at the age of 77. Beloved husband of Susan Sullivan. Loving father of Douglas Sullivan and Kelly Sullivan. Cherished honorary grandfather of Olivia, Mackenzie, and Dylan Martin, and Beckett Wysman. Dear brother of Isabelle (Jr Kotzke), Carl (the late Zelma) Sullivan, Imogene (John) Mosher, Harry (Liz) Sullivan, Will (Karen) Sullivan, and Robert (Bev) Sullivan, and Ruth (the late Darryl) Sullivan. Loved uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents William and Irene Sullivan and his siblings Tom Sullivan, Richard (Ruth) Sullivan, Charles (Janice) Sullivan, Jane (Darwin) Siler, George, Violet Sullivan, Betty Lou Sullivan, and Gerald Sullivan.

Erwin was a man of many talents and trades, he worked as a fabricator at Trimac, Fiberglass, and Stanchurcher Glass. Prior to beginning his career in Canada, he served in the United States Army, assembling and disassembling ammunition. Erv was a very strong pilar in his community, and was a member of the Petrolia North Enniskillen Fire Department for 45 years. During this time, he fulfilled many rolls, reaching the highest rank of Lieutenant; but for so many who came after, he was a mentor and a friend.
Erv had many hobbies and passions that he tried to pass on to all who he knew and wanted to listen and learn from him. He had a love for hockey, gardening, fishing, and hunting. Erv will be remembered for his famous line “just cuz it came out of a book, doesn’t always mean its right!”

Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to a charity of your choice (cheques only at the funeral home please).
