It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the sudden passing of our most loved father and grandfather, Alan Ernest Stocks on December 19, 2023 at the age of 89. Our father was the true patriarch of our family, a loving husband and devoted father who was always looking out for everyone and everything with love. His quiet and peaceful passing leaves a huge hole in our hearts. Predeceased by his loving wife Frieda (2022), he will be dearly missed by his loving daughters Tracey Kraemer (Dan), Kelly Marks (John), and Jody Stocks, and his grandchildren Jake, Jesse, and Jordan Marks (Grace), Matthew and Chloe Kraemer. Alan was also predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Elizabeth Stocks, in-laws Laura and Frederick Barr, and sisters Joyce O’Connor (Harry), and Patsy Irwin (Alex). He was born in Collingwood, Ontario, raised and resided all of his life in Sarnia where he enjoyed a long and dedicated career at Imperial Oil. Upon his retirement in 1991, Dad and Mom enjoyed many years of happy and healthy retirement travelling throughout Canada and the United States, several trips to Europe and many wonderful cruises in the company of family and close friends. Their grandchildren held a very special place in their hearts and they were so proud of each of them. Dad and Mom thoroughly enjoyed visiting their grandchildren in Calgary every year and spent many enjoyable hours cheering on their grandsons in Sarnia at the hockey rink and at many ball diamonds near and far. The Detroit Tigers have lost a long time and dedicated fan. Our family would like to thank Dr. A. Lau for his care over the years as well as the PSW’s at Shine At Home, VON, and Bayshore. A very special thank you to his PSW April who cared for Dad and our family with such compassion and commitment, as well as caregiver Dolores who helped him in the last few months of his life.
