Surrounded by her loving family at Bluewater Hospital on Sunday, June 23, 2024, Rosalia died at the age of 89. She was born on May 5, 1935 in Santo Stefano di Camastra, Sicily, Italy, the third of twelve children. Rosalia dedicated her life to her family. She was the dear sister of Giuseppina (Gennaro) Cacace, Maria (Antonio) Arabia, Pietro (Rosetta) Sottosanti, Giuseppe (Rosetta) Sottosanti, Salvatore (Rose) Sottosanti, Calogero (Cindy) Sottosanti, Vincenzo, Sottosanti, and Antonino Sottosanti. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Rosalia was predeceased by her parents Giovanni and Arcangela Sottosanti, sisters Rosa Sottosanti, Antonina Elmo, Sebastiana Liuzzi, and brothers-in-law Salvatore Liuzzi and Giuseppe Elmo. The family would also like to acknowledge and thank her dear friend and caring neighbour Kathleen ("Katerina") McIntosh and the compassionate staff of the Palliative Care Department at Bluewater Health. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 1465 Lecaron Ave., Sarnia, on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 10:30a.m. A private family entombment will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery, Sarnia. An expression of sympathy may be expressed through donations to Bluewater Health Foundation - Palliative Care (cheques only at the funeral home please).
