Peacefully, surrounded by loving family on February 20, 2024, at Afton Park Place in Sarnia, Ontario, at the age of 98. Vincent was the beloved husband for 71 years to the late Betty Smith, (Jones, 2020). Loving father to Lisa Coulombe (Lou), Michael (Yvonne), Kerry (Agnes), Cathy (Brenda), Bryan, Susan, Patrick (Judy), Lori Sumi, (Steve), and Sam Castrillo (Nick). Devoted grandfather to Matthew (Joanne), Todd (Alexis, Kaelyn), Adrienne (Jay), Ryan (Shannon), Samantha (Michael), Liam (Katie), Jennifer, Shannon, Taylor (Ashley), Joshua (Kaitlyn), Hilary, Keegan (James), Hunter (Kyla), Sawyer and Shane. Adoring great grandfather of Reilly, Kaylee, Colten, Avery, Rachel, Lauren, Lenin, Isla, Lyla, William, Wyatt, Charlie Joy, Dax, Indie, Zoey Bea, Miller, Rhys, Easton, Serena and Clayton.
Vincent was born in Toronto, the son of Vincent Smith and Julia Sullivan. He was the last of his generation and is predeceased by his siblings Eileen, Winnifred, Kathleen, Helen, Walter, Terrence, Mary, Larry, Sheila, David and Jimmy. Vincent loved his family and took great joy in his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed a life filled with music, singing, gardening, and sports. He was an avid walker who enjoyed meeting everyone along the way.
The family is extremely grateful to the staff of Afton Park Place for the care and support they gave to our father. The community and family he gained at Afton contributed to his full enjoyment of life these past eight years. A sincere thank you to Dr. William O’Mahony for his genuine care.
A service honoring his memory will be held in Sarnia at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. with visitation held one hour prior from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
