On Monday, October 7, 2024 Edward Wayne Shipman II ‘Junior’, a member of Walpole Island First Nation went peacefully to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family at the age of 76. Ed will be missed deeply by his cherished wife Gina (nee Williams) and remembered always as a loving father to Calvin (Susan), Janet (Buddy), Tammy (Rev. Dugan), Edward ‘Jute’ (Becky), Joe (Vonda), Jeff (Thi), Nathan (Misty), Shaylynn (Dut), Andy (Frieda), Dalton, Lonnie, Myra (Bob) and Tina (Kennedy ‘Peebs’). In January of 2025, the Shipman family will be a legacy of 5 generations, making Ed a grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather. He is the last surviving child of the late Edward and Mabel Shipman and has now been reunited with his 10 siblings. He will be remembered fondly by his many nieces, nephews and extended family. Junior was a long-time member of St. John’s Anglican Church (Walpole Island) and retired after many years of working for Walpole Island Public Works. Community visitation will take place at the Walpole Island Sports Complex beginning on Thursday, Oct 10, 2024 at 12noon until the time of his funeral ceremony on Friday, Oct 11, 2024 at 1pm. Burial to follow at Highbanks Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg (519-627-3231).
