Peacefully on October 26, 2024, at Vision Nursing Home, Lloyd Maxwell Schnare passed away at the age of 96. He was predeceased by his loving wife June of 67 years.
Loving father of Michael (Sue), Christopher (Theresa), Crystal Hodges (Doug) and Brian (Countess predeceased). Treasured grandfather of Jennifer, Countess "Stephanie", Kyle, Jessica, Adam, Julia, Robert "Bobby", and Dale. Proud great-grandfather of Branyn, Presley, Mackenna, Landon, Ivy and Violet. Predeceased by his parents Maxwell and Winnifred Schnare. Dear brother of Arthur (Carol), and Heather Garbett (Glen), predeceased by brother Lorne (Barb predeceased), and sisters Shirley Giddens, Elvina "Babe" Brannon (Earle predeceased) and June.
Lloyd was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and in his early years, resided in the South Shore community of Queensland. His family moved to Seaforth, Nova Scotia in 1940. Lloyd relocated his family to Sarnia, Ontario in 1965.
Lloyd was a proud 50 year plus member of Carpenters' Local 1256. He was also a proud member of Trinity Anglican Church in Sarnia for many years and served on the Church Board. Lloyd was a talented carpenter and had a passion for woodworking. On one occasion, he applied his carpentry skills to build an altar for Trinity Anglican Church. During his retirement, Lloyd completed several home renovation projects for his children.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Vision Nursing Home - Michigan Wing, for the compassionate care shown to Lloyd for the seven years that he resided there. Cremation has taken place and a private graveside service for Lloyd will be held at Lakeview Cemetery, Sarnia, Ontario. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Alzheimer's Foundation (cheques only at the funeral home please).
