Robert "Bob" James Russell, born on April 7, 1939, in London, Ontario, passed away on February 4, 2025, in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, known for his vibrant personality as a true social butterfly.
Bob dedicated much of his life to his family and his passion for outdoor activities. He was an avid tennis player and enjoyed golf, pickleball, boating, camping, and traveling, with Florida holding a special place in his heart. Bob's proudest accomplishment was the establishment of Rock Glen Family Resort, a place that brought joy to many and was a reflection of his love for the outdoors and family gatherings.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Russell (Buller) of 67 years, and their three children, Rob Russell, Kathy Russell and Terry Jefferson along with their spouses, Mark Stire and Ron Jefferson. He cherished his role as a grandfather to CeCe, Kara, Allan, Jenna, Jessica, Bret. Tim, Lindsay, Nick, Erin, Wayne, Crystal, Stephen, McKenzie and step-grandchildren Jocelyn, Steve, Michaela and Scott Stire. Bob also took great joy in his great-grandchildren: Hannah, Bo, Heidi, Cameron, Kadence, Sebastian, Macey, Elijah, Sawyer, Watson, Palmer, Crue and step-great-grandchildren Charolet, Rook and Lauren.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Cecile (Dick) Russell and Verna Russell, as well as his brothers Richard (Dick) Russell and Lenard (Bud) Russell.
Bob had a favorite saying, "It's hard to be humble," which mirrored his larger-than-life personality and zest for life. He loved to watch "The Voice," showcasing his appreciation for music and talent. Bob will be remembered for his warmth, kindness, and the positive impact he had on everyone he met. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at Rock Glen Family Resort (8685 Rock Glen Rd, Arkona) from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
