It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the untimely passing of our cherished son, Lewis Rising, who left this world far too soon on November 17, 2024, at the age of 34. His departure has left an irreplaceable void in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
Loving son of Deana Rising and stepson of John Strachlin. Cherished grandson to Deborah Leone and Janice Rising. Dear brother of Derek Rising and Ethan Strachlin. Lewis will be missed by countless family members and friends. Predeceased by his father Lon Rising and his grandparents Joseph Leone, Ellie Colling, Lewis Rising, and Linda Rising.
His kind heart and gentle soul touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He gave great hugs and his personality drew people to him, creating lasting friendships that will endure beyond his physical presence. Lewis loved his First Nation Heritage and expressed it through the native bead work he created. He was always eager to read “that next book” which helped him in his ability to have a good debate. Lewis was definitely a foodie. He was always encouraging other to try new things but adored his mom’s home cooking the most.
Lewis’s legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, the memories we cherished, and the love he shared so freely. While we mourn the years we won’t have with him, we are grateful for the precious time we were given and the beautiful moments we shared. A funeral service will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., with family and friends being received one hour prior from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Cremation will follow.
Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Ryan’s House (cheques only at the funeral home please).
