Peacefully, and surrounded by loving family, at the age of 77, Betty was embraced by the arms of our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. Beloved wife of Brian Richardson for 54 years. Loving mother of Angela, Terry (Sheila), and Jeremy (Gillian). Cherished grandmother of Emma and Ava. Dear sister of her identical twin, and best friend, Bonnie (John) Maitland. Loving sister-in-law to Mary Anne (Hershel) Harris & Carolyn Anderson. Predeceased by her parents, Gordon and Margaret Anderson, and brother Ronald.
Betty will be greatly missed by her many nieces, nephews and their spouses, her great-nieces & great-nephews, countless cousins, friends, former students, and even by her multiple fur grandbabies.
Betty’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff at Marshall Gowland Manor.
Betty was born in Montreal & raised in Brownsburg, QC where she met her future husband, Brian, at school at the age of 6. Betty went on to receive her teacher’s diploma at MacDonald College and spent most of her life teaching, first in Montreal and New Brunswick, and then finally in Sarnia after settling here. Betty’s life revolved around her Lord and Saviour, Jesus, which inspired her to spend countless hours involved with Olivet Baptist and Central Baptist Church, be it playing the piano, singing in the choir, playing in the bell choir, teaching Sunday School, organizing Bible School & other social church events and was a member of DABS. Betty was very outgoing and influenced many people through her teaching and church involvement; they could always count on her generous spirit to reach out to anyone in need. There likely aren’t many out there who haven’t experienced Betty’s humour and fun-loving spirit, whether it be her dressing up in one of her many costumes (no matter the season or holiday), or by the giant productions she put on – even for a simple tea party!
