Betty Irene Powers of Wallaceburg passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at the age of 87. Betty was the daughter of the late Garnet William & Dorothy Irene (Dawson) Branton. Predeceased by her beloved husband Donald Keith Powers in 2016. Loving mother of Debra Aarssen, Ross Powers, Sue Elliott (Ken) and Carl Powers (Jennifer). Cherished grandmother of Chad Burke (Janet), Adam Burke (Jamie), Amy McFadden (Ryan), Shana Powers, Jason McCarthy (Tonya), Danielle Elliott Halliday (Bryan), Sarah Boer (Kyle), Todd Elliott (Julia), Ethan Wagner (Clair), Tyler Elliott (Haylee) and Alex (Brittany), Eric (Taylor) and Josh Powers and great grandmother of 20 great grandchildren. Sister of Beatrice Branton (the late John Elwood). Sister-in-law of the late Robert (Marion) and Burton (Clara) Powers. Betty had retired as the office manager for the Wallaceburg Water Works. She was a member of the Trinity United Church Choir and the Sisters In Song ladies double trio. Betty and Don wintered in Montego Bay, Jamaica and considered it their second home for many memorable years. They truly knew how to live life to the fullest and make the best out of every day. Their favourite times were spent with family whether it was by the pool, playing Yahtzee, watching game shows, playing cards, having root beer floats, or making ice cream cones, lots of fun was to be had. Betty had a very green thumb and loved to garden, as well as bake, sing, and play with her grandchildren. A private family celebration of life and burial in Riverview Cemetery will be held at the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg 519.627.3231. If you wish to make a donation in Betty’s memory, please consider the Alzheimer Association or Trinity United Church.
