Peacefully with family at his bedside at Bluewater Health, Randy “Joe” Powell, died on January 12, 2025. Joe was 65 years old and shared life with Roxann Sanders and stepson, Donald. Joe was born in Petrolia to the late Clifford (1977) and Verna (neé Wightman, 2013) Powell. Joe is also predeceased by his wife Charlotte (2006) and stepson, George McConnell (2015), stepdaughter, Melinda Nutt (2023), sister Lila Neely (the late Jim, 2016) (2023), in-laws Jim Sanders (2020) and Sharon Sillib (2022). Joe is survived by and will be missed greatly by his step children, Robert McConnell, Ivan (Derek) McConnell, Cathy (Ian) Granville, son-in-law, Scott Nutt and sisters, Gloria (the late Frank, 2014) Riehl, Mary (the late Ed, 2023) Young, Betcy (the late Gary, 2023) Spinks, brother Jake (the late Cindy, 2022), and sister-in-law, Krystal (Sean) Tucker and stepdaughter-in-law Lisa McConnell. Joe was admired by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joe was a transport truck driver for many years with ECL and he loved it very much. He enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with family. He was the “driving instructor” to many of the younger generations. He enjoyed anything outdoors like working on cars when he was able to and teaching anyone who wanted to learn. He enjoyed road trips around Ontario and got to travel some out of the country over the years.

Family and friends will be received at a visitation, Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 2:00-5:00 p.m. from Needham-Jay Funeral Home, 4059 Petrolia Line, Petrolia. Cremation to follow. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made by cheque to Lambton Elderly Outreach.
