It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Owen Payne announce his sudden passing on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at the age of 28. His sudden departure has left a void in our hearts that can never be filled.

Owen will be deeply missed by his parents Carrie Kinlin (Benjamin Bell) and Ryan Payne; siblings Carson (Alicia) Payne, Kamden Payne, Ryson Payne, Madden Bell, Jack Cox-Bell and Lily Siklosi-Payne; nephew Arlo; niece Melody, Grandpa Tom Jones, Nana Susan Payne and Gerry Strong. Also missed by his aunts and uncles Debbie, Michelle, Tracey (Bob), Bill (Nerina), Daryl, Jason (Chan) and Carianne (Ryan); and cousins Kierstin (Yves), Victoria (Andre), Colin (Emily), Shayna, Hannah, Shelby (Rasto), Danielle, Aydan, Kayla, Jantzen, Jaylyn, Jayce and Brianna; and their children  Paisley, Ambrose, Hudson, Adeline, Blakely, Colsen, Wolfe, Reign, and Navy. Predeceased by his grandparents Cecile Jones, Larry and Irmie Kinlin, Ross Payne Jr., and Emma and Ross Payne Sr.

Owen was a loving son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, and lit up any space he entered. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with friends. He had a passion for hockey, but not the Red Wings. Owen loved out loud, and never was afraid to tell anyone that he loved and cared for them. He was kind and thoughtful and had a great sense of humour. Owen always took time to make people smile and laugh.

Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Friday, November 8, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. followed by a celebration of Owen’s life. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Sarnia Hatchery or CMHA Lambton-Kent (cheques only at the funeral home please).
