Suddenly on February 6, 2024, Barbara Louise Parkinson passed away at the age of 71. She leaves behind her siblings Jim (Cathy) Parkinson, Mary Jane (Armin) Leitenberger and Lynn (Bill) Boynton as well as nieces and nephews and the love of her life, her dog Dolly. She was predeceased by her parents Ken (1997) and Dea (2001) Parkinson.
Barb was a nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital in London for her entire 36 year career before retiring and returning to her hometown of Sarnia to be closer to family. Her loving and caring nature kept her wanting to help in the community so she began working for Red Cross until she wasn't able to continue due to health concerns.
The most important things in her life were family, friends and Dolly. She always looked forward to special occasions to be able to visit with the extended family or with close friends. Friendship was very important to her as she remained close to her high school friends and her co-workers.
She kept a note that said "We don't get to keep the ones we love forever. What we do get to keep are the memories of our times together".
Cremation has taken place. As per Barb’s request, there will be no visitation and a private family interment. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Sarnia and District Humane Society at https://www.sarniahumanesociety.com/ways-to-give/ (cheques only at the funeral home, please)
