Mary Jo passed away peacefully on Friday, May 3, 2024. She lived a wonderful 79 years and her loved ones will miss her dearly. Mary was a shining light to those who knew her. She made friends everywhere she went, and the warmth that radiated from her will shine on in those left behind. Mary Jo married Ross Palmer on June 24, 1986. Their marriage was loving and kind and their two families came together to form one. Beloved mother of Hisham (Christine) Al-Gharabally. Step-mother of Margaret Palmer Davidson (Tom) and the late Robert Palmer (Giselle). The best grandmother to Gabe Al-Gharabally (Sam), Ben Al-Gharabally, Anna Davidson (Duncan), Emily Davidson, Jack Palmer, Henry Palmer (Ellie), Great-grandmother of Rosalind and Thando. Sister of Ruth Posey (late, John), Donna Steuwer (Fred), Sharon Conard (Joe), and Jim Shafran (Sandy). She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and countless friends. Predeceased by her loving husband Ross Palmer, parents Edmund and Adella Shafran, and brother, Art Shafran.

Visitation will be held at McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 Christina St. N. on Friday, May 10, 2024, from 11:00 - 12:45. A service will follow in the chapel at 1:00. The interment will follow immediately at Lakeview Cemetery.
