It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dear husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. Beloved husband of Leighsa Chalmers. Loving father of Josh, Jenelle and Jerrica. Dear son of Doug Opperman (late Karen) and Pam Opperman (Larry Gowrie). Brother of Darlene Archer (Luke), Denise Boersma (Trevor) and Krista Tremblay (Leona). Son-in-law of Debbie Chalmers and the late Greg Chalmers. Brother-in-law of Greg Chalmers Jr. (Sam) and the late Michael Clayton. Uncle of Autumn, Madison, James, Alexis, Matthew, Austin, Jace, Avrie, Hayleigh, the late Jordyn, Justice, Julysa, Rayne, Ellie, Benson, Lucas and soon to be baby boy Max. What do you even say about someone like Dan? A loving father, husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. He loved his family more than words can express. His kids, his wife and his baby dog Moose were his entire life. He cherished every memory he made with each of them. His second family was at Imperial Oil Complex E. He spent 15+ years putting his heart and soul into his job as a process operator and as a firefighter. He built friendships and respect with everyone he worked with. He will be remembered as a car enthusiast, an avid Seattle Seahawks fan, a traveler, a family man and an amazing person who was always there for anyone in need. His generous spirit, giving nature and sense of humor touched everyone who met him. He will be greatly missed by his wife, his 3 children and his entire family whom each of which has special memories and moments they shared with him. His death has left a hole in many people's lives, he will be greatly missed by many, but no one more than his mother. They shared a special bond; some might have referred to Dan as a mama's boy. He always was supportive, helpful and loving when it came to his mom. Although they never made it to the altar, the love of his life Leighsa was his wife and partner in every way. Spending almost 20 years together building a beautiful life and raising a gorgeous family together. He will never be forgotten and will always be missed. Dan, we love you. Friends will be received at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 Christina St. N. on Sunday, February 2, 2025 from 1-3 & 5-8 p.m. As an expression of sympathy friends who wish may send memorial donations through the designated email: [email protected] to help with Dan's childrens' education.
