It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden and tragic passing of Mathieu “Matt” Nuyten on Friday, January 12, 2024 at the age of 31. Beloved husband to Rebecca Nuyten. Devoted father to the apple of his eye, Blaire Nuyten. Loving son to Craig and Heather King and son-in-law to John and Joyce vanKlaveren. Cherished brother to Paul Nuyten (Sara), Kenzie King (Jordan) and Carter King and brother-in-law to Rachel (Russ) Muhlig, Christian vanKlaveren, Jonah (Madie) vanKlaveren. Special grandson to Rhonda and Noble Sheldon. Matt will be greatly missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, niece and nephews and friends. Matt was handy in anything he tried and used his skills as he pursued a career as a heavy equipment operator. Matt loved formula one, cooking and he was an amazing friend to so many. Known for his infectious laugh and smile, he lit up the lives of those fortunate enough to share in his company. Matt’s true essence was revealed when he became a father. His greatest source of pride and joy was his daughter Blaire. Blaire could always bring a smile to his face, and he couldn’t resist telling everyone about the sheer amazingness of his little girl. Like the saying goes, she truly had her Daddy wrapped around her finger. An open house will be held to celebrate Matt’s life on Saturday, January 20, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, ON. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to a trust fund to be set up for his daughter Blaire or Ronald McDonald House – Southwestern Ontario (cheques only at the funeral home please).
