Mother, grandmother and friend to many, Laureen was born August 21, 1939, and passed away peacefully on July 22, 2024, at Trillium Villa Nursing Home in Sarnia, in her 85th year. Predeceased by her parents Jake and Frieda Pavey, brother John Pavey and daughter Laurie Turner. Laureen is survived by her sons Alan Norland and Jeff Norland (Angela), her 5 grandchildren, Jake Evans, Jeremy Norland (Shantel), Nick Norland, Haven Morphew (Dustin), Ashley McPhail (Rick) and her 3 brothers Fred (Carol), Norm (Penny) and Bob (Sharon). Aunt to eleven and Great Aunt to nineteen. Laureen was born in Alvinston and spent the first 10 years of her life there. The family moved to Sarnia where she spent the remainder of her life. She graduated from SCITS and subsequently started her working career at Peter’s Variety Store where she spent many happy years. As time progressed, she became employed at Bluewater Health in the dietary field and finished her career in that role. She was very proud of her accomplishments while at work and as a single mother to three children, she taught them hard work will help you succeed in life. Laureen was a likeable person and a social butterfly within her community. She cared for others and was quick to help out wherever she could lend a hand. She enjoyed a night out with friends and family to try her luck either at the casino, at the local bingo hall or at the racetrack. Baking, knitting, sewing and making quilts were just some of the talents she possessed and passed on to her grandchildren. She was a friend to many and enjoyed the many visits she received from her friends over the years. Cremation has taken place. A graveside committal service will take place at Lakeview Cemetery on Wednesday July 31st at 11 am. Remembrances and condolences may be expressed to the family online in “Laureen’s Guestbook” at mccormackfuneralhomesarnia.com. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to McCormack Funeral
